Is a Wedding Planner Right for Me? Part One

“Why should I hire a wedding planner?” It’s a question I get asked a lot. The answer is as individual as the bride, but for most it comes down to three things: time, money and expertise.

Let’s start with time. Did you know the average wedding takes over 200 hours to plan? Today’s busy couples rarely have the time and flexibility in their schedules to accommodate those hours. Add to that the stress of balancing different family traditions, your own vision and the hundreds of decisions (Which caterer? Which venue? Indoor or outdoor? DJ or band?), and the benefits of having a planner become clear.

Another significant role for a wedding planner is time management: juggling all of the details and deadlines, and creating timelines and itineraries so that nothing is late – or overlooked completely.

Even “do-it-yourselfers” who enjoy the planning process often opt for a wedding planner for day-of coordination so they can enjoy a stress-free event. From the rehearsal through the reception, there is a lot to manage: dozens of vendors, the wedding party and your guests. Do you really want to be the go-to person on your own wedding day?

For your wedding, give yourself the gift of time.
