Kelly + Joe | Cookery Wedding

Kelly and Joe’s Durham wedding was the perfect kick-off to a beautiful Spring wedding season! Full of color, energy, and lots of laughter, the only word to describe their wedding day is happy!

The majority of Kelly and Joe’s guests were newcomers to Durham and they could not wait to show them what this historic city had to offer! From industrial buildings transformed into venue spaces, delicious food, and a great band, it is safe to say their guests received the full experience!

Kelly and Joe started their day at the Durham hotel hanging out with all their best people before heading to First Presbyterian Church for their ceremony. Their ceremony was sweet, personal, and truly set the tone for the rest of the evening. Kelly and Joe wanted to personally greet all of their guests before everyone left the church so they dismissed each row, hugging and kissing, each person who was there to support them! Instead of an exit at the end of the night, they opted for a ribbon wand exit as they left the church for The Cookery – what a way to get the everyone excited for some FUN!

When guests arrived to the Cookery, they were greeted with more festiveness – a champagne display + passed hors d’oeuvres , live music, and a gorgeous lounge from Greenhouse Picker Sisters! While the celebrations began in the front room and the courtyard, The Catering Company of Chapel Hill was cooking up a delectable plated dinner and we were lighting candles and checking all the gorgeous details that had us so excited to sneak Kelly and Joe in the ballroom before all the guests got to see! The gorgeous light blue linens from American Party Rentals paired with the bright pops of peonies, garden roses, anenomie, and greenery were the perfect juxtaposition to the historic brick, iron, and concrete that give The Cookery it’s character.

After a candlelit dinner full of toasts, smiles, happy bellies, and even a shot of traditional Norwegian spirits introduced by Kelly’s Grandmother, we were ready for some dancing! Bantum Rooster lead the line of guests into the front room where the party took to a whole new level! Kelly and Joe danced their hearts out and Joe even got to take stage as the groups newest lead cowbell – you truly have never seen joy until you give a groom a loud musical instrument and tell him to go for it! To keep guests who needed to needed a rest before heading back to the dance floor entertained, they had a hand-rolled cigar station AND a late night dumpling food truck that were very much loved by guests!

Kelly and Joe’s day was a over a year in the making and it was truly a pleasure to see them enjoy it so much and soak up every second! Brett with Blest Studios captured all of these special moments so magically and we hope you enjoy!!
